Please answer this question with a yes or no and--if you would like--a short explanation why. And then put your religious denomination and the political party (US and other countries if you live abroad) for which you usually vote.
I know that's a little touchy to ask but here's my theory: Republicans and Christians are no more likely to view premarital sex as a sin than Democrats and atheists. Episcopalians and Methodists these days aren't any more traditional than atheists and many Republicans are completely secular. What say you?

In honor of the standing tradition around here to divulge your own opinions I am a Baptist Republican who does believe you need to keep your pants zipped until Wedding Night.

yes -
A marriage license is a piece of paper that gift-wraps the sacred treasure of sexual union. How dare any of us imagine we are honoring God by valuing the paper if we have been trashing the priceless gift! It is the height of hypocrisy to make a show of reverencing a man-made ceremony if we have no remorse about having trampled underfoot that which comes from God himself – sexual union. I’m not for a moment suggesting we should not respect the piece of paper, but for us to take care to avoid foolishly rushing into marriage is a sham if we don’t treat sexual union with equal care.

Well don't believe in sin so my answer is no. However, for religious folks, even though they tend to believe it is, sin has to be perceived as sin by the person committing the act so even then it still may not be.
As for political affiliations, I'm a Libertarian on the local scale and Democrat on the national scale since we are a two-party system and a vote for anything else is a wasted vote. I was raised Catholic, but I am an atheist.

Dear Chris,
Sex before marriage is a sin, that is it is rebellion against God's law. In Matthew 5, the Lord gives us the commandment, "Ye have hears that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." You can read the original commandment in Deuteronomy 5:18. However, the Lord explains that God judges not only our actions but also our thoughts and tells us that if we lust after after a woman (no intimacy involved), we have already broken God's law. And the penalty for breaking any of God's commandments is eternal damnation. That is why everyone needs a Savior.

if you are one to be concerned about sin then it is. I am a heathen and have no such constraints.
religions always change with the times. if they don't they won't last. Christianity has changed through the dark ages and it's lawlessness, ideas and interpretations going with it. Some christians are now rationalizing same sex marraiges that was so unrelgious for a time.

The day will come that the churches will dictate when I will have sex or when I will not have sex. People , wake up , smell the roses. Look at our so called celibate priests, even they have sex. It's known for centuries. You think they don't know what they have for sexual organs?
Sorry but this religious bulshit, is all a frase. European think differently about sex. If I want to know how good my partner is in bed, I better find out before we get married. Better ever than never.

A better question would be how many at this site actually waited for marriage before having sex? Its not a sin for consenting adults to have sex but it is wrong to teach children that human sexuality is shameful.
Not religious, just spiritual...

I'm an Atheist. No, it's not a sin. My short explanation for it is that it is a natural human act. Now, that doesn't mean that I'm waltzing around sleeping with alot of people. But meaningful, consenting sex is not a sin.
