Tell your friend to call the local Canadian embassy in Florida and make an appointment.

I haven't checked recently but prior to 9/11 Canada's immigration requirements were more restrictive than the US. Since she is a US citizen, she can not claim economical or political need. If she is educated with an advanced degree, then it may be even more difficult. She will not have a unique skill that can not be accomplished by a native and will be consider over qualified for other jobs.

She can start by looking at the link below, but she should really try to talk to someone in person.

I'm Albertan.

According to the Statistics Canada website, only 6500 out of a total of 220 000 immigrants/yr. are from the U.S., so I warn you, obviously, the border is not "open". Americans haven't been freely able to come to Canada since the War of 1812.

That being said, Canada is a lot like the U.S. in choosing immigrants, and employer sponsorship is most likely the only way, but that only works for people of exceptional talent like engineers and C.E.O.'s.

Therefore, because the Alberta economy is booming, and because the immigration rules are xenophobic B.S., my best advice is to come illegally. My feeling is because she is American, she would be much better received and able to work illegally in construction.

That suggested, I even have standard households who have been working in direction of polygamists. a pair have been from the rustic, anglo/saxon caucasian, a pair have been from Africa and one kinfolk grew to become into Arab. They publicly claimed the 1st spouse because of the fact the companion and counted the others as purely individuals of the enjoyed ones. the youngsters in those households have been enjoyed and have been efficient individuals of society. the place issues arise is whilst human beings come from different worldwide places the place the 2d or third better halves are no longer even of legal age to be married in the rustic. additionally, whilst there is abuse and different themes.

Easy. Cross the border with the U.S. passport then eat it. Head on down to the local welfare office tell them you're a refugee. Get a free house and monthly cheque. Seems to work for thousands of other people.

yes but the only problem is in order to become a citizen in Canada, you need relatives up there and you need to show them birth certificates and everything in order to prove it. i know, stupid. they should just let us come like any other country. Come in, register and all done.. but NOOO they have to make it reall complicated
