Should i get a perm (plz read details inside before answering)?

Question

i natural, thick, long, kind of straight hair. some parts here and there are a bit wavy. it's pretty much impossible to get my hair curly, i've tried everything. i'm not sure if i should get a perm or not because a) i'm afraid i might damage it, or once my perm is out i won't have my straight hair, b) my hair is so thick that the perm will look awful, c) that the perm will last for 2 months due to the thickness of my hair.
Is it worth getting a perm?

I have hair very similar to yours, AND a sister who is a beautician.

The answer is absolutely NO. Don't get a perm. The damage it will do will make it difficult as sin to do anything with your hair afterward, and you will develop severe "flyaways".

but try a shampoo and set at a salon and get the stylist to show you size and type of rollers to use and get her to recommend a setting lotion for your type of hair, so that you can practice at home as a good set can last for a couple of days,
it might also help to get some layers cut into your hair as layered hair always looks great when it has been curled

Since your hair is thick-I would forget about the perm...it will make your head look huge!!

no dont i have seen ppl come out getting a perm with a huge poodle afro ew. and it can damage your hair if you dont like it too bad cuz its not goin away in wuold suggedt a semipermanent body wave

Its not worth the effort you will have to put into it. Besides, thick and curly are not always a good combination.
