Well this is what they are going to be looking at:

1. Can she sing out loud enough that we can hear her?
2. Can she sing in tune?.. and how well in tune?
3. Can you understand the words she is singing? -this is very important.
4. Does she look happy on stage?

-I've judged a lot of auditions, and these are the normal four questions I always ask. Really it doesn't matter what you sing as long as it came from a book. Pop songs, though you may already know them, are always harder to make sound good then traditional folk songs or songs from musicals, so I suggest one of them... but find something you perform well, even if it's amazing grace- because it's not the song they will judge you on, it will be these four questions- think about each question- and aim to make them all positive.

inspect the source I listed on the backside. The hyperlink additionally has stable tips for auditioning and a seek gadget for finding out on songs. It additionally lists dates and a few efficient tricks. have confidence me- you will do extra helpful by making a music a stand out music that they have not already heard 15 situations for the time of auditions. additionally there's a kind of selection between a soprano and alto. are you able to hit an A above the workers? C? Or what approximately an F under the workers? Do you have a extra classical, jazz, or pop sound? that's ultimate to locate a music that has stable selection yet the place you could maximum comfortably sing mutually as projecting, producing stable tone, and proceed to exist pitch. spoil a leg!

I'd suggest you sing something from a musical that you know well. NOT from sound of music. Choose something that is a solo female vocal (not something that uses an ensomble) I'm sure they aren't going to be super picky so maybe you can sing something from say Annie?

I wouldn't sing any Andrew Llyod Webber just because he is used in many auditions....I would pick something that can show your range...also - maybe try not to pick a song where the melody is the same for each verse....doesn't show your highlights or talent and such.

My friend aubrey tries out for musicals all the time. Our school just did Peter Pan and she played one of the lost boys (lol!) I think she usually sings something from the music man.
