Actually, it usually takes a little more than just a simple blood test.
If a doctor suspects you have it, he should do a small intestinal biopsy to look for anything out of the ordinary.
An allergist could probably tell you that you should see a doctor and have that done. But an allergist wouldnt do the procedure unless hes specialized in that field also.
Once its concluded that you do look like you have celiac, and start a gluten-free diet, its only after the symptoms go away that you will actually have an official diagnosis of celiac disease.

I dont think it would be an allergist. I had a patient, in a pharmacy I worked at in Long Beach, a little girl that was diagnosed with it...after she was hospitalized with serious symptoms. I would suggest going to www.webmd.com , I use that resource a lot, in fact just the night before last my daughter called regarding her fathers symptoms. If you are having some symptoms, there is a "symptom checker" which is real easy to use or you can key in Celiac disease and it will tell you all about it as well as action that should be taken. any dr can diagnose celiac by means of a simple blood test,ask ur dr.
