I might have to get glasses but my friends say glasses don't match me at all, is there anyway I can get contacts instead? Would they cost more or what? I also heard that it could get infected and stuff, is it true?

i got glasses in 2nd grade- im quite a bit older now, but i just got contacts in september. they are great!

yes, u can get infections, but if you wash your hands with soap and water before putting in or taking out your contacts you should be fine. it's is basic germs that cause the infections because you are touching your eye, it doesn't have anything to do specifically with the contacts.

it is a challenage though getting the contacts in at first, so you will have to get glasses and contacts. you can NOT sleep with contacts in, so you would need them at night when you take them out. go for contacts though!!!! especially if you are in or older than 8th grade!!!!

I had this problem. No frames seemed to suit my face either. I have an astigmatism in my left eye and people say it is the most uncomfortable to wear contacts. I started out on contacts and found them very weird. They say to wear them for 4 hours only on the first day and then increase the time by an hour each day until you reach the recommended eight hour wear. I grew used to contacts very fast. I then got a pair of frames my sister helped me pick out at Costco(really cheap), to wear at home for studying. Now i wear both contacts and glasses regularly. My contacts were 150 dollars for a year supply (get optometrist to give rebate form on acuvue), and my glasses were 190 with out the anti -reflective glare and scratch resistance. I recommend getting the anti- reflective as it is difficult to drive without. Some people are generally sensitive to contacts, but most problems come from improper hygiene. Wash hands before putting in and taking off contacts. Other than that you have a trail period with contacts and your optometrist will let you know if you will have reactions.

Do you always listen to your friends? You never know how you look until you try them on, they come in all different sizes. The exams cost more too for contacts. And with contacts you have to have an exam every year otherwise they won't sell you any more boxes of contacts, with glasses you only need an exam every 2 years. I've worn contacts for 9 years and have not gotten any kind of infection. You need to take them out every night and soak them in the solution.

they say contatcts get infected to scare you. really if you take minimal care of them you will be fine 99.99% of the time. They are more expensive but just get a year supply of two week disposeables and wear each pair for two or three months, it doesn't matter. I wear contacts and glasses are much worse. really, do you want these things hanging off your head all the time.

i wear both. your doc should offer you the choice of either. there are some brands out there that are not that expensive. i pay 25 for mine. yes it is very easy for eye infections when u wear contacts but there are ways to prevent it. just ask your eye doc.
