Generally children start at 5. It really depends on the child's social level and also how they have developed socially.
Go to the school and see what the teacher thinks.
It is better to have a 6 yr old in kindergarten that is doing well than having a 6 year old who is not ready for school or is having issues and feels that they were forced in to soon.

From a point of view of a future Child Care Center owner I say that a child needs the social skills of being around other children. Even if your kid attends a program three or four days a week a few hours a day it gives them the adjustment to a school setting allowing them an easy transition into school at the age of 3 or 4. Being a stay at Home Parent is fine there are things that you can teach your child that no teacher will take the time to teach. However there are things that they need to learn that they can only learn from being around other children that are not siblings.

Legally in the United States a child doesn't have to start until Kindergarten. That would be around 5-6 years old depending on their level. There are preschool programs for children 3-5 for many children to get socialized young, but those are not a requirement.

Depends on what type of school you are refering to. Preschool is for 3 and 4 yr olds or 5 yr olds that miss the birthday cut-off to begin kindergarten. Kindergarten begins if the child is 5 by the beginning of school or a month or so afterwards.

Usually 5 for kindergarden and 6 for first grade. If you need them in preschool then around 3 or 4. The birthday cut off is usually around November or so maybe a little sooner. I hope this helps, good luck.

Most states have a law that children must start 1st grade by age 7. Need to check with your local school district if it is a question that affects your family. Look in white pages for "schools" and find administrative offices for your school district.
