You should choose a song that is stylistically appropriate for your particular talents. If you sing country well, then sing a country song, but it you struggle to be believable when singing country, then you'll shoot yourself in the foot if you try to sing it.

Also, you should choose a song that is also appropriate for your voice range. If you can't hit the notes, you just totally embarrass yourself.

If the purpose is to please the crowd, try to choose something popular that would fit your range and your style.

If you have a heavy deep voice, go with something country - Blue, Crazy ( patsy cline) or maybe an older June Cash song. The crowd always loves those. If you have a strong higher voice, try Wind beneath my wings. If you have a sweeter, lighter voice, try something from Les Mis ( castle on a cloud) or maybe a POG song- Its a great chance to spread the good news to someone who hasn't heard it! Check out the Klove website for other ideas on christian music.

Just pick something you enjoy - and learn it really well, so that during the performance you can focus on your stage prescence instead of how the music works . Have Fun!

You should sing a song you think your personably best at. Country- Rascal Flatts is very easy to learn the lyrics and all of there songs have points to them. Rock- probley Hemorrage (In my Hands) by Fuel, its not the fastest but i love it. Christian- do something by Skillet or Building 429 depends on you.

I'd sing be my escape or by relient k. They don;t have high notes or anything. But this is my opinion. I think they rock by they're simple songs. If u don't like dat song then go with who i am hates who i have been. Good luck! ^_^

An don't worry about ameena, the type of music ur in rocks cuz they're my type. Its so much better than rap/hiphop.

Beauty and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast)
Born To Entertain (Ruthless)
I Whistle A Happy Tune (The King and I)
Part Of Your World (The Little Mermaid)
Tomorrow (Annie)

Any of these songs would be good if you are a musical-lover and can hold a classic Broadway showtune

Sweetie, were you born yesterday? Scratch that. Were you born in the 50's. Anyway, sorry to be harsh, but honey ya need to know how to make the correct choices in life. Such as, what song you're gonna sing at your school talent show. Yeah..well..the types of music you listed..I must say..are...quite dorky. Anyway, I think personally and preferably your peers would take more of a liking to rhythms that are in a sense more enjoyable to the mind and soul thus elevating the mood and spirits of the once frightful and deranged little middle school student.....In other words, do some rap/hiphop or pop. In OTHER words...get better music babe before your students start throwing things at you. Have a great day. :]

I agree with Twist 123. Ameena is nothing to worry about, even though she had no right to say what she did. As long as you like the song, it doesn't matter what other people think. Just sing what you like and everyone else can just shut up about it or clap!

Sing a song that everyone is familiar with and that is in your range. Also, try to find one that you can easily get background music to. So maybe a song that has a karaoke track with it?

either Schools Out or Onward Christian Soldiers or take it to the limit (thats one of each genre). You could do a medley of all three.
