i haven't checked this out myself yet but my dad was just telling me that there's a bill in process of being passed that will allow immigrants who were illegal and then become legal to qualify for ss benefits 18 months after becoming legal. if this is true i don't think that's fair. there will be no ss left for the people in my generation already, why would they get benefits, especially that soon? what do you think?

Your dad is right. While they're cutting citizens benefits and making it harder and harder for those on it to find a Dr. that will even accept medicare.....while they're telling us it will be bankrupt and elderly citizens can't afford meds or anything as it is now....this digbat makes sure he gives it away to people who don't even belong here. Now mind you....SS benefits aren't solely medicare.....I can't wait to see the abuse on this. I'm so mad I could spit nails seeing Americans get screwed over like this. Trust me.......with each insane move to kiss these guys illegals buts....more and more Americans are going to get pretty darned riled. Why the heck even bother being a law abiding citizen when it seems to be much more lucrative to be an illegal criminal?

Your Dad is right. The Republican Administration has allowed the problem of immigration to get out of control in every area which includes not securing the borders, amnesty, and now social security which will be extended to illegal immigrants as well.

Immigration is fine but services such as education, health care and housing are being provided at the taxpayers expense and taking away needed services for our population. Charity begins at home.

Yes, this is true. Ironically it has been in the works since 2004 and about to be passed. Why wasn't this an issue during all the recent campaigning, (not that it would make a difference, Pres. Bush and the new Congress is endorsing it).

I think Social Security was falling apart anyway, the solution of the 80's that was going to save the program for 75 years dried up in 20 or so?
