My dad thinks he has throat cancer but wont know for sure until he goes to the doctor to get something down his throat to examin it. If he does have a tumor on his throat and has to get it removed what doctor would you recommend in the east coast area and if possible could you provide a website linked to this doctor and/or a telephone number.

He went to the regular doctor who said to go to a specialist which he is doing later this month, the regular doctor said it was white and looked like that meant cancer.

Has anyone had throat cancer and what happened?? Please help!..thank you!

My father-in-law had throat cancer. He had one of his vocal cords taken out followed by radiation treatments. He was 50 when that happened and passed away when he was 82 due to something else. As far as a doctor, theres the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio or Johns Hopkins in Baltimore(I do believe its there) I wish your dad luck and you stay strong for him. I'm sure he'll be ok. Keep faith!!!

Cancer centers in the east coast area are:

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - New York, NY
Dana Farber Cancer Center - Massachusetts, MA
Mass. General Cancer Center - Massachusetts, MA
Fox Chase Cancer Center - Philadelphia, PA

I believe the centers listed above are all NCI designed comprehensive cancer centers.

Each of those centers have a referral line which you can call to get a name of a doctor suited for your dad's needs.
