Hi there...generally, when a cat exhibits bad breath it could be a result of either periodontal, kidney, respiratory or liver disease to diabetes, skin disease (involving tissue around the lips) or oral trauma, such as electric cord injury. However, by far, the most common problem associated with bad breath is periodontal disease. All which will require a veterinarian's evaluation to treat respectively.

Brushing your cat's teeth will work, to a point. But I've found the best thing to do is what I do for my three cats right before bedtime. After I've played with them - feather on a fishing pole or laser-light chase - I'll call them all into the bedroom and give them all a few treats. The very last treats that they get are called "Greenies." They are all-natural and very good for the teeth and gums of your cat. I'm not sure which flavour it is, but one I know is great for fresh breath.
Cupid is much like your cat - bad breath and sleeps near my face at night too. His breath never stays fresh all night, but a good deal of it with a few Greenies right before bed. Those cat breath mints? BIG waste of time and money - and most have artificial ingredients that are just lousy for a cat.

Brush his teeth at least once a week (if he eats only dry). Bad breath is often a sign of bacteria build up and plaque. That causes gum disease and tooth problems. There is also a liquid pet product that you can put in the cat's water that is supposed to help freshen their breath. But the best way is to brush the cat's teeth.

It is important to brush a cat's teeth at least once a week if not everyday to prevent buildup (check the back teeth). If your cat eats wet food, that will also affect the cat's breath, so switch to dry, it is better anyway. Drinking a lot of water also helps, so encourage your cat to drink more water by cleaning its water dish regularly or letting it drink out of a faucet!

it incredibly is incredibly useful to get a vet to actual clean his enamel. yet another factor you desire to envision is his foodstuff: now and returned if there's a difficulty with the kitty's foodstuff, there will be together with his breath too. If the cleansing and a metamorphosis in foodstuff do no longer help, get kitty a examine-up: now and returned undesirable breath would desire to intend that the kitty has a severe sickness. in actuality, your vet will probable desire to grant your cat a examine-up besides till now cleansing his enamel, in case there's a skill problem with the anesthesia. reliable success!

I have two cats. One has tuna breath and the other has no smelling breath. She goes outside and eats grass (on a leash so she doesn't get hurt). Grass cancels out the tuna breath. You would think she would smell like grass, but she smells... like nothing really.
ASK VET FOR (probably better) ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!

Bad breath in cats may be an indication of gum disease or even more serious problems. Best to take him to the vet for a check up. If your kitty is healthy but smelly, you can get a chicken flavoured paste to "brush" his teeth with. Ask your vet to show you how to properly brush kitty's teeth.

His diet may need to be changed. depending on th age of the cat there can be many reasons why his breath is so bad. The reasons are usually diet, health or gingivitis. i suggest you take him to the vet for a physical, so he can hopefully rule out health and teeth. Are his gums red? do you notice any plaque ont the teeth?Gingivitis can make your pet very sick and his longevity can be decreased by a lot if you do not treat this. it can cause heart problems. However it can easily be treated!
Good luck!

Brushing his teeth on a regular basis will help. Also, you might want your vet to check him out, too. Bad breath can be an indication of something being wrong, like dental disease.

Make your animals sleep on the floor or on thier beds. But seriuosly, if you feed them dry food only their breath and overall dental health will be much better.
