I recently decided to go back to college but they now require history of immunization shots. My current doctor said only my pediatrician would have them but he is dead. My old high school doesn't have them either. Is there any kind of medical database where my pediatricians records would be? I do not want to get all these shots again.

Your doc most likely refered you to another physician when he retired or when you were too old to continue seeing a pediatritian. Which ever practice you were refered to should have the records. You doc was probably associated with a local hospital, they could probably help you find out who would have your records. (I'm surprised your current doc doesn't. When swiching docs they usually require all of your old medical records are fwd to them)

Sorry but unless your parents kept records at their home and still have them, you very well may need to do it again. It is required that medical records are kept for a minimum of 7 years. For a minor child it is 7 years after they turn 18. If you are older than 25, there is a good chance those records have been destroyed.

You will not be successful in obtaining these old medical records.

Just get new immunizations. Most of the ones you received as a child probably aren't protecting you anymore anyway.

if the only records belong to the ped someone has to have them..when he died it's not like his estate could just toss them...is the office where your ped was still a medical office,if so go there and see what became of old patient records...even if it isn't a docs office now someone there migth be able to direct you to where the records were sent

Was his office possibly at the hospital or clinic where they may have them? Good luck, I really don't know. Hope you get them. Would your parents possibly have the immunization record card?
