The chinese characters on your charm coin, "jixiang ruyi" 吉祥如意, means, "I wish you good fortune and hope your wishes will be granted". In China, people commonly exchange the expression.

It says å¦æå祥, it's a well wishing phrase sort of thing.
å¦æmeans something goes somebody's way
å祥 is luck
I've heard it in Cantonese soaps that they say: æ ¼æ ¼, å¦æå祥, "æ ¼æ ¼" is what they call princesses in Chinese. It's like a greeting for them, but nowadays the phrase can still be used, but it's not very common. (Not saying it to princesses of course XD!) This is also used to put on a coin to put around the neck or a small sewn bag to bring luck.
