They don't want their guy friends to see that they have a mushy love side to them... they want to be seen as manly and macho, so they go overboard in front of their friends to prove themselves..

You are stereotyping. Not all members of the male gender behave this way. A better question might be to go directly to the guy you have seen behave this way and ask him why he does this. If he is a jerk about it, minimizes the importance of your concern, or gets rude with you, just dismiss him and don't be around him.
Look, there are jerks within both genders and they aren't going to change who they are just because you would like them to. Make a choice to hang out with a higher caliber human being.

....those are not young men/ men they are boys and that's just immature. The guy in currently into is nothing like that. He is a joker around the girls and his boys. The only difference is that he gets protective and defensive if I'm there with his fellas. What ever guy switches over like you just mentioned is what i call being two faced

Probably because they want the girls to go out with them, so they are polite to make the girls like them. But then when they get with the guys, they are rudeish because they know they don't have to be polite around them, and boys are always "showing off" in front of each other. (known from experience)

That is just how some of them are especially when they care too much about what their friends think. Some feel they have to "be" a certain way with their friends and another way around just females.

guys can be real gentlemen when they are with you alone. When they are with their friends they dont want to show their kind side they'd rather show their "macho" side if you know what i mean. Its kinda like : a guy would never want his friend to see him cry but if a girl does it doesnt really matter sorta thing.
Hope this helps

its not really nothing against you, guys just try to show off to their friends.
If I were you I would tell my guy friend how he treats me when he is around hi guy friends. Let him know that you don't like it, if he don't change I would suggest not hanging with him when he is with these friends. Let him just hang and then you won't have to worry about how he treats you or what he says.
Good Luck

It's called IMMATURITY ,And it just doesn't effect males .Once you get older and are in more social situations you will see who needs to grow up and who has. If you find yourself in a situation where there nice one minute and rude the next find new friends!
