I will cook a huge meal, and a half hour later he will be up again searching for more to eat...i don't really think he's that hungry all the time, and i don't know if there is anything i can do about it. He'll eat like 5 hamburgers from McDonalds and then be hungry for even more not even an hour later. Is this normal for a 20 year old guy, or could it be something psychological? How do i bring it up without being offensive...its getting expensive!

He's also not very active, he has a job, but its not like he's very active...we mostly sit around the house and play video games, we do go out for walks occasionally, but he;s not neccicarilly burning off all the food.

it's not that normal. there are a few reasons why he could be doing this. i know 20 year old guys can have a high metabolism but that's a bit much. if he's not gaining a lot of weight there's a possibility that he has an overactive thyroid. in this case the person eats and eats and doesn't gain weight and can often be borderline underweight. there's also the potential of him being a habitual over-eater. it's comfortable and he's built up a routine so he keeps doing it. there are also various other medical reasons for what could be going on(i'm not a doctor so i don't want to throw anything else out there, but thyroid is a common problem for people). instead of urging him to eat less which can seem a bit hurtful you could suggest seeing a doctor to make sure there's nothing wrong.

edit: if he goes to the doctors and there's nothing wrong then you may want to gently nudge him in the direction of at least becoming more active. you two could go on more walks, or start a workout routine together. hiking, biking, or something else that you both enjoy. =)

Before I went to work in an office, I used to be a machinist. Very physical work. I could eat anything in any quantity and not gain an ounce. Then when I took a job in an office, I went from very physical to sitting at a desk all day. I continued to eat like a horse, and packed on pounds.

Sounds like your guy is going through the same transistion. My recommendation is to remind him in a friendly way that he is not doing hard labor the way he used to and all those burgers & fries will wind up in his gut in no time if he doesn't watch out.

He may get away with this when he is 20 but it will definitely catch up with him one day soon. His veins must be clogging up already with all that fat from the Satan's Spawn Burgers. You are correct in your suspicion that it could be psychological - there is a condition whereby a person';s brain will not alert them to the fact that they have eaten enough and they can eat till they are sick. I think you must urge him to get a sceening at the GP's surgery, even if he is not yet showing signs of obesity.

i does not say some element approximately it! If he relatively loves you and cares for you numerous greater pounds won't subject remember to him! in the mean time determining and ingesting a greater in positive condition weightloss plan, all it takes it difficult artwork and dedication and you are going to make certain effects. If he leaves you over 10 lbs then he isn't any doubt an enormously shallow guy perfect? even nonetheless I doubt he's going to care.

Sounds like he is still eating like hes 16 when he was still growing. Well hes not anymore and he needs to be told. Dont be afraid of offending him. Its his health. At his age he can't eat that way. He needs to go to his physician and get a base line blood test. Just to check his cholesoral and other things. Then he needs at his age every 5 years to check it till hes 30 then every 2 years a till hes 40 then every year after that. The age for men having heart attacks are dropping because of the american diet. Because of things like 5 McDonalds hambergers. Please talk to him

Well. Perhaps you could point it out to him nicely, without saying anything rude to him. It may be normal depending on his metabolism. There are many men who can eat alot and still be hungry. If you notice him gaining alot of weight afterwards, then I think you could tell him so, nicely of course.

When I first got married I was appalled by how much my husband could eat. My dad was a "normal" eater, I had never seen anyone inhale food before. If your B.F. is not overweight stop fretting, he's 20. This not something to pick a fight over, I'm sure he does other things that annoy you, focus on them.

He needs to see a Dr for a check-up. Something is definitely wrong with his metabolism. He is headed for obesity. If he won't help himself, I don't see much of a future for you.

If he doesn't gain any weight, he may be bad at extracting nourishment from his food. Or he could have a tape worm.
