The one you can drink is missing whatever you are allergic to. Find out what you are allergic to and for that on the label. It sounds like you are having a problem with a preservative or other additive.

But since you go not know your friend's preference, I suggest you play it safe an bring a " Bordeaux Blend". It is a blended red wine that contains only those varieties that are authorized for use in the red wines of the Bordeaux region of France, like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc...... Wines that are Bordeaux Blends are usually of good to excellent quality.

I don't know much about wines, but the packaging could also be the culprit. Was the cork wrapped in a metallic wrapper? They contain toxic heavy metals such as aluminum, tin, and lead. You could have had a reaction to that because it can leach into the wine.

It is possible you are allergic to sulfites. Check the label. It must be listed if it contains sulfites. Some wines do, many don't
Allergy to sulfites is actually quite common and asthmatic reaction is the most common symptom.

maybe u just had an asthma attack? maybe u can drink it. try drinking it again and if asthma happens again then ur allergic to it, which would be really weird to be allergic to just that bottle.
