If you can handle it, jumping rope. A speed rope really. Like the boxers use to train. With a little practice, you can get very good at it...even learning to jump rope in a room with low ceilings.

If you can't handle that intensity, then walking or such...but try to slip in a minute of rope jumping now and then to rev things up.

Twice a week, do weight lifting. You'll feel your body screaming for food after this. Feed it protein. Muscles burn fat all day, even when you're sleeping. Tone up, bulk up not required.
Bodybuiling.com has great info on aero(cardio) and weight training.

A balance between lifting weights and cardio. Muscle burns calories longer than cardio alone, and you don't have to "bulk up" to get results. See a certified trainer and enjoy.

The stepping machine, in one workout( 1hr length) i usually burn 900-1000 calories.

Jump rope, jumping jacks, running and basically any thing that gets your heart rate up. Even dancing.
