You basically need to adjust your expression, tone, and volume to suit the song.
For a loud, upbeat song, you want to sing loud (but gracefully) and have a smile on your face. Some songs may need a little more change in tone than others, like if it's a big, pompus, broadway tune, it may sound better with a little "character" added to it.
If its a hymn, your voice should follow the dynamics that are written in and be clear and sweet. If you're singing a sad song, you should adjust your volume to what the lyrics are (like when the music gets louder during a moving part of the piece)

Hi there,
I'm in my choir at school too! My teacher says this too. singing comes from many things posture, and breatghing, but it also comes from your voice expression. when you sing, don't fron, smile, and bruighten up your eyebrows. you'll be more alert. to have color and texture, try using differnt techniqus. sing slower abnd softer for a slow song, and be happy in a upbeat song.n also, I always use vibrato. try to vibrate your voice.in other word, with proper techniques, you can be xpresive and show who you really are in music and singing...good luck!

Emote. Read the lyrics, try to feel an emotional response from them. Singing is part acting. If you can feel a smile inside, your voice will carry it out. If you can feel terror or suspense inside, your voice will carry it out.
Incidentally, tone color is not synaesthesia, it's timbre.

The same way your skin gets "clarified" by certain cosmetic products, or a wine evokes "wood, leather and earthy topnotes."
Just flowery, meaningless language to describe the indescribable.

Ummmmmm. How to answer this. See, when you sing, your voice comes out. No colors, no textures. Maybe if you sing while you paint.....
