HR20 isn't a bad receiver, but it does have a lag. Whenever you want to view the guide or want to view the info, it takes 3 or 4 seconds to appear. However, the lag in switching channels is the big hindrance.

If you have an HD direcTV box already, try to hang on to it for as long as possible. The MPEG4 is nice on all the H-20 models, but they all have a lag. DirecTV is in the process of developing signal upgrades and firmware upgrades to compensate for the lags.

I own the HR10-250 and works great. I've had no problems with it. Easy to use & great interface. It's only 480p, 720p, or 1080i so if you plan to use 1080p then I don't recommend.
Haven't heard anything about the HR20.
