You may be able to get it when you're 16 with a parent, but most reputable shops won't do it even then. Plus you're not finished maturing until at least 18, so it may stretch a lot after you get it and you may change your mind.

It differs by state, but if you are asking I'm sure you are under 16, honey my rule is if you think you found the perfect tattoo, look at it for a minimum of 2 years and then see if you really still can't live without it. And never put a name except Mom and Dad, or a sibling, family member! Well, even though you will probably disregard anything I tell you, let me explain to you why there are laws against tattooing minors.

I'm not sure how old you are, exactly, but I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that you aren't mature enough to be making permanent decisions (such as a tattoo) on your own.

And not only that, if you get a tattoo before the age of 18, you are taking the risk of having something put on your skin when your body isn't quite done growing. If your body does continue to grow, you could end up with a stretched, distorted tattoo. And who wants to live with that for the rest of their life?


I know you want to be "cool" and rebelious and whatever, but there are reasons why you should wait.

But since you're probably going to do it anyway, just keep in mind that we don't want to hear you complain about it once you have a tattoo that looks like crap.
