Hi! Ok...if you are not doing it that often, that you should be ok, but straightening actually weakens the hair (because of the heat) which may result in split ends and a lot of all around breakage. I straighten my hair once a week and I do notice that ever since I started straightening my hair, I do get more split ends and such. It can also cause your hair to dry out.
There are a few things you can do that will help out your hair:
1: Make sure hair is completely dry and free of knots when you straighten it.
2. Instead of hot, use the blow drier or flat iron in a Medium/warm temperature.
3. Use a "silicone" base serum before and after you straighten your hair (the silicone coats your hair which protects it from the heat...make sure serum has silicone as an ingredient otherwise its no good. A good serum that I like is either John Frieda's anti-frizz serum or Citrus Shine glass serum which is pretty cheap - $5).
4. Get your hair a nice deep conditioning treatment the day before you straighten it. I like pantene deep contidioning but there are many products out there that will help you...my roomate uses a Garnier Fructis deep conditioner and it works pretty well for her!)
5. Make sure you are getting a trim at least every 3 months.

Good luck!

Straightening your hair makes it very dry and often causes split ends but you can fight that by using moisture shampoos and leave in conditioners. I have really curly hair and straighten it nearly every day. I do not have dry hair because I take precautions. You have every right to straighten you hair too. Just take care of it!

while you're making use of a stable shampoo and conditioner, yet a miles less high priced straightener, then the straightener, relatively. while you're making use of much less high priced shampoo and conditioner and a miles less high priced straightener, then you definately're beating your hair up quite badly. while you're making use of much less high priced shampoo and conditioner, yet an exceptionally truly stable straightener that isnt burning your hair, then the showering daily. i comprehend that relatively some all of us is in this finished "no washing" kick, yet heavily, some human beings could wash daily. If I dont, not in easy terms does my hair look greasy, i comprehend it, I swear i will scent it and my self-self assurance is 0. None of those issues are appealing. stable shampoo is rather well worth the money in case you have large hair.

It can damage your hair by giving it split ends and making it dry out. I would recommend getting a special hair spray (at Target, WalMart, etc.) There are many that you spray on before straightening and it keeps your hair shiny. I use it every day.

It burns it, makes it brittle and creates split ends. Over time your hair will become very dry like mine. But once every two weeks if fine as long as you use restorative shampoo that says it will fix the damage done to your hair.

It's damaging to your hair, but you can help. Use a spray for straighteners to help your hair (all the heat is bad) and use a really good moisturizing conditioner with a moisturizing shampoo. Good luck! =)

if u dont do it alot it wont really hurt your hair that bad, but if u feel ur hair is dryer, u have split ends, or its not as healthy, then u could try different hair salons, or stores where u can buy a bit expensive, but worth it oils and sprays to help keep it healthy. if u are on a low budget however u should try garnier fructus smooth and silky, in the small bottle for less than 5 dollars.

Using straighteners, whether salon or at home, dry your hair terribly. It's burning your hair after all, to get it straight. Use deep conditioners often, and use shampoo only every third washing.

you use straight iron? or a perm? it damages your hair by drying it out so it looks like straw and it might even start breaking off from your roots and soon, you'll become bald!! but that's ONLY if you do it ALOT, a few times shouldn't hurt but 1 time every 2 weeks? thats 26 times in one year! maybe you should do it every three weeks or so. hair is very fragile.
