I have 9 cats in all, all relative except for one dominant older male that rule the neighborhood.(since my neighbors have witness several cat fights and my dominant male cat has come out on top..other cats have not been near our house)...anyway, my female cat will sleep at the neighbor house next door. My cat Jade will come home for short time to eat and hang out until she sees other resident cats and will hiss and attack them when they get near. She is however, very loving, attached to me and my wife and always come when called...I would like to see her sleep at home and get along with other cats. What can i do?

Not trying to be mean or anything but 9 cats???, you have to understand cats are not meant to live in such large societies, it creates a lot of problems, they are not pack animals, they might like the comfort of your home and the free food but you need to realize 9 cats living under the same roof is just not natural or fair to the cats.
No wonder they can't stand each other... well, at least they are trying to avoid confrontation...

Find the unhappy cats a happier home. Some cats just don't get along in small spaces. It has big effects on their health especially when their is a dominant male that is being aggressive and territotrial. We had a female cat that couldn't get along with the male, she lost a lot of weight and was nervous 24 hours a day. She's with the grandparents now and is just beginning to come out from under the bed and gain weight again. Poor thing.

I know you don't want to hear this, but it's time to thin the herd. Find new homes for your cats. Cats do not like to share territory. That is why you are having all the problems with fighting. They stick around because you're feeding them, but they'd really be much happier in homes that are less crowded. Bring in about three of the cats and try to find good homes for the rest. Also, since it sounds like they've been breeding, you should really get them fixed. There are too many unwanted pets out there, you don't need to produce more.

Gee you must have good neighbors to tolerate 9 cats. I guess bring her in early in the evening and don't let her out.

She probably resents living with so many other pets, and wishes she were the only cat. Perhaps you should bring her indoors and spoil her? Treat her as the special girl that she is.

Cats can very seldom be forced to do anything they don't want to do. Good luck.
