I think that he did a fantastic job!....Im 36 and i couldnt do it so good on him.....and yes the family had money and yes the school did give him the time off!....But then daddy probably gives the school a new dorm or something.....I agreed with the person that said that he managed to get the time off.....whilst the rest of us live in hope that we dont get a slapped wrist for taking out kids away for a week during term time because we cannot afford it in the summer.....I aplaud the young lad but at the same time cross that parents with a higher income can get away with so much.....while the rest of us are made examples of.

Actually there are thousands of kids all over the world who "live aboard" with their parents year round. They are "home schooled" in a sense, but their home is often a sailboat that cruises the world. They are rarely "posh" kids. Often they live on a very small amount of money, and have a very frugal lifestyle, but have a very rich education as a result of their travel and life experiences. The world is the best classroom. I have known many of these kids to go on to university with no difficulty at all.

The skill, ability endurance and determination to complete this task is truly admirable. With these qualities, his school work will doubtlessly be up to date in a very short time.

What is considered an achievement for a 14yr old in Lancashire, eating chip butties and having more than one shower per week?

Its not right at all, oh to have money and be able to bend the rules like his parents have.

My son has missed lots of school through a medical condition and we recieved a nasty letter from the local authority telling us he had to have a good reason for missing school, and this was after he had letters from his specialist handed into the school.

Bet they didnt get a nasty letter, more likely a pat on the back.

Schools like high achieving pupils ot boast about- even when their acheivements have nothing to do with the school- that is probably why he got permission!

Who cares if he had permission? Can you learn to spell??? Could you do it? I admire him, there's not many 14 year old kids that would have the guts to do what he has done. Good on his parents & friends & family for supporting him & shame on you.
