A Jew is an ethno-religious group that came from the Ancient Israelites. When we say that the person is a Jew. We are actully saying the person is an adherrent to Judaism. The origin of the Jews is traditionally dated to around 1800 BC with the biblical account of the birth of Judaism. That is about the time that Moses recieved the Ten Commandments.
Abraham was a Hebrew. However the principles of Judaism was slowly revealed to Adam until Jacob.
Was Abraham a Jew by faith? Was his religion Judaism?
Abraham was the father of faith. He did not serve a religion nor was he in a religion. He just worshipped one God. He just obeyed one God.
Hope this helps

You have it backwards, The Jews are people of faith because Abraham was their father. His religion was faith not Judaism.
Muslims say a lot of things that are not true. Islam is a totally different religion from either Judaism or Christianity. Like your question is backward so is their claim. How do you start a religion 600 years after another and then say "Oh your religion is part of ours, even though we came 600 years later". It is bad enough if they claimed to be a continuation of, but to claim to be the original is preposterous.

These are actually all "Abrahamic" religions. First came Judaism, then Christianity branched off with Jesus and the New Testament, then Islam branched off of Judaism again with Muhammed and the Quran. The difference is in the christ and the prophets:
Judaism - the Messiah has not come
Christianity - Messiah has come - Jesus
Islam - Messiah has not come, but Muhammed added to the Jewish base religion.

The law and the oral tradition of Judaism did not arise until after Moses, 400 years later than Abraham. One of the key verses of the New Testament in Pauline doctrine is Genesis 15:6 "And Abraham believed God, and God credited that to him as righteousness"

He grew to become into the father of Judaism (and additionally of Islam), and for sure he wasn't a Christian--that grew to become into long after Abraham. there's no dispute between Jews and Christians so some distance as i understand. in basic terms that Isaac won the Blessing and not Ishmael, yet this is between Muslims and the different 2.

Abraham was a Jew by faith. Anyone who says there was no Jews is displaying a lot of hot air. God had decided Abraham and his tribes were Jews. No Catholic can answer this question; it needs to be answered by a Jew. Remember, Cathgolics were started when the Jews didn't want them. Catholics are like table scraps from a feast.
With love in Christ.

Well, Abraham was a Monotheist, his sons and his son's sons became the Jews. Christians came later after Jesus, and then came the crazy moon worshiping Muhammad. Now Muhammad was an illiterate who claimed he knew "what God really ment" with the old testiment/torrah. He was wrong however, he changed names in the bible, got characters mixed up, made a lot of crazy claims, and even named their god after the moon god. You have to understand that his faimily were priests in the moon worshiping cult. I'm serious people. Islam is bunch of garbage. I'm going to eat some pork now and pray to the moon god.

If you read the bible you will find that Abraham is the one who the Hebrews or the Isrealites come from, he was the father to judah and from the tribe of judah comes the Jews. Jesus was a jew because Joeseph was from the line of Judah. The religion of the jews was Hebrew. By the times Jesus came along most of the twelve tribes of Isreal had ceased to exist due to inter marrying with the people they were forbid to.
