When a pet is neutered, that means that it is incapable of breeding. For males, the surgery is called castration, but it is usually referred to as neutering. A neutered male has had his testes removed so that he can't produce sperm, thus preventing him from making a female dog pregnant.
For females, the procedure is called a spay. The ovaries and uterus are removed so that she can't get pregnant and have babies.

To spay a female cat or dog is to get your Pet a hysterectomy she Can not have any babies. To neuter is to have your male cat or dog sterilized so he cant get a female pregnant. They will live longer and be healthier. It is the right thing to do, because there are so many unwanted puppies and kittens as there is.The don't castrate the males anymore. It is more like a vasectomy. My friend just got her boy dog Jimmy fixed. My cat Mia has been fixed sense she was 5 months old.

To spay or neuter a pet is to have a surgery that makes them unable to reproduce.

This is usually a good thing and not very expensive. Because some people do not spay and neuter their pets, there are tons of unwanted cats and dogs born each year that have no owners.

It is fixing them. They make sure they can never have babies. Male cats/ rabbits for instance get all the sexual fluid taken out of their testicles. Then the testicles shrink. Females get their tubes tied.
