when you adopt a pet it is cheaper and they are sometimes pets that were abandoned therefore they can be older, or they are pets that were born without homes. I would recommend adopting because you can save a pet's life. If they aren't adopted after a certain time, then they sometimes put them to sleep. So save a pet!

If you get your cat at a shelter then they use the term adoption because of the contract that you sign when getting the animal. It usually states that you will have the animal fixed, make sure it is healthy, has it shots, and stuff like that. It also usually states that if you don't comply with the rules stated in the contract that the shelter has the right to come and take the animal back.
The price you pay for adoption is then used to shelter and feed other animals.
Adoption is for all the unwanted and mistreated animals that have come to the shelter and you are agreeing to give it a good and loving home.

Purchasing a pet from an individual or pet store means just that........you have purchased the animal free and clear. It is an animal that usually someone has breaded for the sole purpose of selling to make money.

If you are considering a pet then I would suggest adoption at the shelter. But make sure you ask them for a clean bill of health for that animal and a guarantee that you may bring that animal back if after taking it to the vet there is something wrong with it.
Adoption takes one more loving animal out of the shelter that has been left there unwanted or abused by someone else.

Adopting a pet and buying a pet are very differ. Adopting means that you are saving a pets life. It is the same things as rescuing a pet. It is very good to adopt a pet. That is how I have all of my animals. I will never buy a pet in my life. Buying a pet is when you just get one out of the store. and the dogs, cats, etc are being breed just for people to get. I personally think that buying a pet is guilty.

Well...when you adopt a cat you are doing a great thing because much of the time an animal that gets adopted will be saved from being euthanized...honestly, just take a moment to think about it and it's pretty easy to see the difference.

If you go to a pet store to buy an animal you can never be too sure where that animal came from - this could lead to all kinds of problems as well as supporting an industry that basically pumps out more babies than we can handle hence leading to cats/dogs without homes, feral animals, etc. The negatives with this are endless...

Before you get a cat be sure to get educated as much as possible, get your cat spayed/neutered, etc. You have to be aware of exactly why you're getting a cat and what you're getting yourself into. If you have a healthy cat you have a good 10-15 yrs of companionship to look forward too!

Generally speaking, when you "buy" a pet you are going to a pet store or breeder and paying money to purchase the pet. "Adopting" usually means that you went to a shelter or rescue and gave a needy, homeless animal a home. The price of adoption at a shelter or rescue, which is really a donation to help defray the costs of helping the animals, is usually lower than what you would pay to buy an animal from a breeder or pet store.

In both cases, you are paying a fee to own an animal.

I know that with dogs, you need to be careful where you buy a pet. A lot of pet store dogs come from puppy mills with horrible conditions that affect the health of the dog. Sounds weird, but you have a better chance of getting a healthy pet at the pound than a pet store. Of course, if you buy one from a responsible breeder or store, you wouldn't have this problem, but who even knows how to check that?

Another advantage to adopting a pet is that there are so many pets out there already. Why encourage people to make more kittens to sell when there are already litters advertised in the paper from private owners and a bunch of great animals in search of an owner at the pound.

well when buying a pet the animal already has a home when adopting your saving the animal life because it needs a home and if they cant find a home then it will be put down when buying the animal already has a home they just dont want it and they will ever keep it or someone else will buy it also when adopting the money you pay to adopt the animal gos to help all the other animals to like food water blankets and so on and most of the time its cheaper!! so i highly recommend

when you adopt a pet, you get it from the animal shelter. pets at the animal shelter are probably there because they were found without a home (for example, when we adopted my kitten they told us the litter of them was found in a sewer in the city). many animal shelters have this thing when the pets been there for a certain amount of time they put the animal to sleep. so if you adopt you will get a perfectly good cat, for free, and you will be saving its life.when you buy a pet from a pet store it means that someone bred them on purpose in order to get money. if your getting a pure bred cat from the pet store they will probably be more expensive or at least 60$. pure breds are also more likeley to have problems like hip diseases or skin problems (its the same kind of thing like if you and your brother had a baby- its likeley to have some problems.) but it could be okay. if your getting a regular mixed kitten then thats really pointless because you could get the same kind of kitten for free and adopt it. so you can probably tell i think its way better to adopt a cat then to buy one! heehe but thats just my opinion. good luck with you cat!

When you adopt, you're giving an animal a second chance. Someone abandoned this animal or worse, it was born in the shelter. Buying, you buy an animal that was bred specifically for the purpose of selling. Both have it's pros and cons. Being in a shelter is a very stressful time for any animal. They will no doubt be a little nervous around you at first but in time, with love will calm down.

adopting a pet from a shelter means that u give a cat a second chance to be loved. most shelter animals have been throw away or abused. they' re the 1's[n my opinion] that need a home more than a store bought pet. some shelters r so over rn, that they sometimes hve 2 'put 2 sleep' anomals that hve been there for a long time. so please, if u r getting a cat, please go 2 ur local shelter. theres a lovable cat there waiting 4 a good home. plus most shelters have alreaDY spayed them. please, i know u will find the best friend u ever have there.
