I want to take a 1996-2000 pontiac grand am gt's V6 engine out and replace the quad 4 in my 1995 pontiac grand am gt. My 1995 has a 5 speed transmission. Will the newer V6 bolt on to my old 5 speed transmission?

No, the v6 has a different bell housing bolt pattern, as well as no ecu code was ever made for a manual 3400.

Why would you want to anyway? Quads make more power, get better gas milage, come mated to a 5speed, and as long as you maintain it are just as reliable. It's not an idiot proof engine, to be sure, but it's a better engine.
3400v6 (Pontiac GA 1999-2005): 175hp
Quad 4 W41(Olds Calais/ Achieva 1991-1993): 190hp

I don't think the housing are designed to fit together, but they might. I'm sorry but no one has ever asked if they are the same so I can't answer with any certainty. I would question why you would want to do such a thing as you are in for way more than just swapping out motors here. You will also need suspension work for the extra weight, swapping out a complete motor/trans. wiring harness as well as the PCM is probably different. You will need new mounts for the motor, PS pump, some changes to the cooling system, (rad, hoses), and more than likely changes to the AC system, (condenser, pipes/hoses). Good luck, I would consider not doing this.

Don't know about the tranny, you've got other things to worry about. Motor mounts, new shocks and struts to carry the extra weight, new computer and a bunch of other things that will nitpick you to death. Good luck.

It would be better to find a different way to solve this one as the additional expense you are going to deal with just won't make it worth your time or money.
