I live in WA state and fish freqeuntly, I would have to say the 2 fish that are always good for making the reel scream are steelhead and chum salmon. I'm not sure on the exact speeds, but if a good fight you're looking for try these 2 species, guaranteed to be fun and kick your butt.

I know a salmon can do 25mph, and also consider its athleticism when leaping vertically 10 feet or more. It's certainly pound for pound the most powerful river fish in the UK
