i have always been home schooled and there's never been any peanuts or anything that involves peanuts around the house. i always wanted to try it. I started public school this year and my friend offered me a peanut butter sandwich, so i took it. I soon began to get a rash all over my face, neck, and arms. I couldnt really breathe that well either. has this ever happened to anyone before? not knowing they were allergic to something they really wanted and when they got it something happened. everyone was laughing at me and now my friends cant bring anything that involves peanuts around me. I feel bad about it because i dont want them to stp eating something they like becase of me. what shuould I do?

I'm allergic to peanuts as well. I do crave for it though, and I'm always tempted but I don't do it.

Your friends obviously care about your health. They don't want to be responsible if something serious were to happen. my friends and roommates respect that I have a lot of allergies, and I'm happy about it, so should you.

There is a very good reason why your parents never let you try peanuts. You can have an anphylatic reaction where your airway closes off and you won't be able to breathe at all and you could actually die from it. Don't take that chance and see a doctor. He can give you some medication to carry with you in case it does happen again.

my lil sis is allergic to milk and 1 day at daycare she had a sippercup of milk. Also you can warn the school because they CAN ban peanuts from the school or at least the lunch period. they did that at my school at latchkey! And the the hives are NORMAL my sister is ALSO allergic to peanuts. Maybe you can go to your allergy doctor for more info.!! :-D

It's common. Friends will respect a person's health issues and avoid peanuts in their presence. Peanuts are not essential at every social gathering.

Take benadryl or a histamine blocker. I am allergic to nuts and that has always worked.

As dumb as it sounds, watch what you eat and read labels.
