I have an abundance of muffin mix, but no pancake mix and I'm dying for some pancakes. I wonder if they are one in the same?

Bisquick can be used for pancakes as well as waffles as well as muffins. VERY VERSATILE.

Most muffin mixes have recipes on the box to convert it to pancake mix. I know jiffy's does. You know the cute little blue boxes that cost next to nothing. My dad makes pancakes out of muffin mix all the time.

No.
Simple recipe
100g 4 oz flour
1 cup 1/2pt milk
10g 1/2 oz melted butter
25g 1oz sugar
pinch of salt
1 egg

Mix flour, salt, sugar, egg and milk until it turns into a batter .
Heat a round pan and rub some butter on the pan. When hot add some batter , enough to cover the bottom of the pan and lower the heat. When bubbles cover the batter, turn over and cook the other side.

You could easily make pancakes from scratch. Heck, I'm a guy and even I can do it. I quickly found a recipe online:
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred or sifted before measuring
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted butter

You probably have all these things in your kitchen pantry, and if you don't have them they're really inexpensive.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy them -- I LOVE pancakes!

No. If you use muffin mix for a subsitute for pancake mix, you'll just have a flat muffin...

I think Mr. Grummp is right. The batter will be a little heavier than the usual pancake batter, so I'd set the heat a little lower (to cook the pancakes all the way through without burning them.).

Hmmm....I say try it! It won't taste like a pancake though, just look like one, so why not just make muffins? hehehe Have fun with it!

Maybe but if you decide to try it I would add more milk so it will look like pancake batter.

I really like both fruits and fruit and vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.
