y'all are missing the point. We are called sheep because they say we blindly follow God and can't think for ourselves.

Atheists are sheep too, they think their ideas are original but they get them from what they read and learn from others. So they follow as sheep, they're just don't know who they follow.

Those atheists who call Christians "sheep" generally aren't applying the term because Christians sometimes refer to themselves as part of a flock. It's a derogatory term for people who are easily swayed or led. Let's admit that truth.

I don't recall ever using that disparagement myself, but there are Christians (as well as adherents of other faiths) here who answer questions all day long without ever writing an original thought. They only know how to quote scripture and "prove" that scripture accurate with more scripture.

Did you know that "pastor" means "shepherd"? Seems that Christians think it's a good thing to be sheep, others do not. Personally, I don't call them sheep, but I have heard it.

I've never heard them call us sheep, but I guess that's a lot nicer than some of the other things they've called us.

You're called Sheep because that is how you are referred to in your own Holy Text (all refs from KJV):

Psalms 95
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

-------

Jesus refers to himself as "the Good Shepherd" who lays his life down for the Sheep (his people) in John 10:14-15.

-------

Hebrews 13:20
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

-------

1 Peter 2:25
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

-------

Matthew 25
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

-------

If you don't like it, take it up with the Bible, and blame it for calling you "sheep."

A lot of christians call *themselves* sheep. Somehow they think that's a *good* thing. It never ceases to amaze me.

Yo dunce...you people call yourselves God's sheep. Sheep tend to be herd like animals that have a pack mentality. So, why not call the kettle black?
