That's a good guess... Go to the vet. They'll probably just give you ear mite meds to try. It could have an ear infection, but ear mites are much more likely. If it was a stray or is young both types of cats almost always have mites.

Yes, it probably is mites and from what you said about its ears smelling bad it most likely has an ear infection also. You should take it to the vet ASAP for an ear flush before further complications develop.

If there is a bad odor there is an infection. It could be mites, it could just be an inner ear infection. It's an infection none the less and your cat needs medical attention and most likely antibiotics.

Will your cat let you Look in his ear? If it looks like dirt in his ear, you can get some ear mite medicine from the store. If your cat won't let touch the ear(sensitive) or it looks pink(infected) take it to the vet.

Yes, you can tell by looking in your kitties ear if it has a lot of black waxy buildup it has mites. You can get a product called mitaclear over the counter which is drops that you put into kitties ear.

ear mites? do no longer wait to work out in case you could "determine it out" considering the fact which you're no longer a vet. you should misdiagnose or reason greater harm or wait see you later you permit an infection get so solid it can not be cured. call your vet and describe the priority and notice what they say.
