It's way hard I had this same problem. You have to go off sugar. Not in everything but just the things that you know are really sugary. Get something to replace it. Trust me after a couple of days with no sugar a piece of fruit seems really sweet. Then after about a week or so the cravings will be gone, and you will not even want it any more. (No sugar substitutes either!!) The only problem is you have to stay off of it for this to work. Once you start eating sugar you will want it again. Good luck!

First off, congragulations that you want to improve your body and get rid of those cravings! I am doing the same thing right now, It has been about a week.
The first thing you need to know is, you can't "stop" cravings. Your body is so used to all that sugar, and so it will be craving for several days.
Instead, eat grapes, bananas, frozen fruit, ect. Fruit and veggies are the way! Remember to also drink 8 glasses of water a day. Always have some yogurt with fruit on hand if you suddenly have a huge craving. Throw ALL your candy and junk food away, I am serious here. If they are offering treats at work or at school, polietly say, "No thank you." And reward yourself when you get home by getting extra fruit to eat.
I personally have gone cold turkey, and I feel that a sweet tooth craving is not something you can gradually stop. Why? Because you want more and more until you have eaten a whole chocolate cake.
Good luck!

Try fruits.
okay, they're not sweet, but they fill you up(so do vegetables, but those really aren't sweet), and do contain fructose and other natural sugars, so if you crave sweets because your body needs them, that might solve part of the problem.
The truth is, you must avoid sweets at all costs, if you want to stop. Be decisive about that. The first few days will be really hard, but after a while, it gets much easier..This process in most cases doesn't work, because it's hard to not eat something that you want to! But whenever you get hungry, get in the mindset that healthy things are the only option.
Another thing to do is to just minimize the amount of sweets. For example don't eat a chocolate croissant, and just each two hershey's kisses. It helps your craving a bit, and minimizes the calories you consume by a lot.

When I get a sweet tooth, I munch on and/or drink things sweetened with Splenda or other artificial sweeteners. It helps satisfy my craving for sweets without all the calories of sugar sweetened foods. I enjoy Crystal Light on a regular basis, as well as candy, cookies, and cakes that are sugar-free. Sometimes just eating fresh fruit, fruit sorbets, and Italian ices help curb my sweet tooth, too.

The most horribly annoying thing about a sweet tooth is that it often goes away if you exercise. When I was in relatively decent shape, going to the gym every day for about three months, my sweet tooth just about vanished.
Aside from that, perhaps try dried fruit? Dried sweetened cranberries are one of my favorites.

You might be really cravign carbs. If youve already been to a doctor you might want to substitute your cravings with fruit, like raisins, oranges, bananas etc.
