Aren't some people just ridiculous? I know why you're asking this question. You obviously want to compare answers to see what other people have bought for their newborns. You didn't ask because you're completely clueless as to what to get. Some people are quick to be rude and just don't get it.

Anyway, the one thing I recommend NOT getting is a diaper genie. Those do not work worth a crap. You're better off just throwing the diapers in your regular trash (or outside trash preferably).

And the one thing I DO recommend getting is one of those vibrating bouncy chairs. My daughter used hers a lot more than her swing. You can turn the vibration on or off and it really does help them sleep with it on and boy do they love to bounce!

Oh, and those onesies are a godsend. I definitely recommend those.

A good infant stroller with a infant carseat combo. I also like the pack in plays with the bassinet and changing table features, you get three things for price of one. It also saves a lot of space. You want to get a swing, and maybe a portable swing if you are out visiting relatives or friends a lot. A sling is a life saver if you breastfeed, and the Evenflo electric breast pump they sell at Wal-Mart is the best and I had one that cost 200 dollars once. A cradle, a bed set, blankets, onesies, sleepers, outfits, bottles, pacifiers, pampers, wipes. You may also want to invest in a good quality rocker, they are great to relax in with a baby. Good Luck.

Onesies--LOTS of them. Between diaper blowouts and milk urps, a baby can go through several a day. Plus you can layer them under nicer outfits as a secondary barrier against inevitable diaper containment failures.

A baby carrier/car seat. Very handy for toting around your little one.

A bassinet or co-sleeper for the baby to sleep in.

A breast pump, so you can store your own milk.

Diapers, wipes, and Eucerin or other lotion for rashes.

Don't worry about most of the other stuff. Between friends, family and co-workers, you'll get more than you need of everything else (both new and hand-me-downs).

Congratulations on your baby!

Omg! People are so fricken rude!
I cant believe some of the answers on here!

Have you tried looking on a website like
www.americanbaby.com or
www.babycenter.com?

I can tell you from expieriance,
you will need alot of diapers. try not to buy all one size
alot of onesies, but try not to buy all one size.
bottles (thats if your not planning to breastfeed)
burp cloths
socks
pacifiers
feet pajamas
you need wipes to, try the sensitive ones, those are good for newborns.
a bouncer or swing or both

you know of course that you need your all out basics, car seat, crib,
stroller,
playpen (if you want one)
high chair

I have 2 little boys and here are you some ideas, crib, crib sheets, crib set (bumper pads), bassinett, bassinett sheet, blankets thin and thick, coat, light jacket, bottles, or breast pump, bottle washer, washclothes, baby tub, baby magic shampoo and lotion (any brand will do but this was my fav) fingernail clippers, socks, onesies, 7 outfits at the least, burp clothes, shoes, car seat, bouncer, vibrating chair. I hope this was helpful. Babies require alot, dont they? But they also give alot back in return :)
