that seems fine by me. Have u thought that alot of pagans are a bit on the obnoxious side to Christians? i mean, there's alot of junk on our honest questions, thank you. and Christians are actually concerned about your welfare and the scary concept that somebody they talked to on YA could go to an eternal hell. now, if we are wrong, then we're lunatics. but if we're right, doesnt it make what we hav to say all the more powerful??
btw- i turned on my email. if your too chicken to email me about it, thats your problem.

I think this is a good idea, but not for the reasons you cite.
Even if you provide a bunch of sub-categories for different religious groups, you're still going to need a religion (general) section to cover cross-religious questions (and probably and (other) section too). Look at the travel section, for example: there are lots of categories for different places, but still a general one. And if there's a general category, then there will probably still be some contention going on.
On the other hand, it would probably serve some people well to have segregated areas if they had a lot of questions about a specific religion, or even just wanted to look at other peoples' questions and answers about that religion. Many religions really have very little to do with each other, so I think they easily could merit their own discussion sections.
We would still have contention, but it would be more focused. Everyone wins! ( :

Then you'd have to create a separate category for Muslims, Jews, etc. Yahoo is not going to do that. Besides, I am not a Christian, nor a Pagan. Why should everyone who is not a Christian go into the Pagan category, particularly when most Christian holidays are derived from Pagan ones?

i am a christian. We or some people preach when they talk. on the other hand i don't. I give you the information that you ask for..if i see that it is a question that the person is in need of a little inspiration then i might type two words..that doesn't mean i'm preaching...and you could respond to me if you want to i don't mind...

I'm an Animist. I want a category! Maybe Yahoo figured they'd embarrass itty bitty groups like us Animists. Seriously, though, why not? Seems like categories simply give more granularity, so that people can find what they want. I guess the flip side is if you bury content under labels. Yahoo must have thought about this question. I wonder why they decided to just have a general category.

Speaking of soapboxes... does that go in the "Pagan Preaching" category? or the "better than everyone else" category? Why is it when Christians go off they are "causing trouble" but when people call Christians idiots, judgemental, intolerant, etc...they're being open minded???

If you don't want open debate, this really isn't the place for you. I am sure that you can find an all pagan board someplace if you don't want other opinions.
Most of the regulars come here for the debate because we think it is fun. If you separate it, you will just have people trolling to the different places.

There are tons of Christian boards and tons of Pagan boards out there. If you want segregated discussions, go to a religion-specific board. Otherwise, simply skip the questions that you aren't interested in. I agree that the mix can make things interesting.

As if you and others don't preach to us? As even you said, "wait until they ask a question then preach to them " Yeah, right. Preach it sister, but I get enough spam and hate in my inbox already than to open it to the likes of you.

No one would stay in their own catagory. For example, there are plenty of christian fundies posting in the science section. At least there, no one is agreeing with them.
