Well I was wondering do i get any of my money back since my taxes are already taken from my paycheck. I am a merchant mariner and was wondering about a tax credit per Sea Day that i have worked this year. Thank You.

I love answering the question as it is asked instead of as it was intended. That said, you can increase your refund by having your employer withhold extra each check. There is a line on the W-4 to do that.

To address the question you intended to ask: "How can I minimize my tax liability?" aka the amount the IRS keeps, you need to provide a lot more information.

You need to provide more information.... Like what deductions do you have (charity, taxes, interest payments on a house), as well as other sources of income.

You should go to www.irs.gov for all the forms and publications.

Also, you might want to get some tax preparation software...
