Okay, the first story about Jesus is his birth, and in the story he was recognized as the Savior. Now, Jesus doesn't come back into the bible until he is in his thirties, my question is, what was Jesus doing all those years inbetween and why werent they recorded if he was already known as the savior, and when he did start his preaching why did nobody know who he was if his birth had already been a miraculous event? Why was it such a surprise?

An angel told Joseph to take the family to Egypt to escape King Herod, and so that's where Jesus lived until it was safe to come back. Then they lived in Nazareth, where Jesus grew up under the Jewish laws and traditions. A lot of people didn't believe that He was the Savior because they were expecting for him to come as Prince or knight in shining armor type of savior. Even his own apostles thought that He would lead them in some kind of a war or rebellion to save His people and establish His kingdom. Nobody realized what He did until after He died, and was resurrected, because they did not fully understand thee prophesies. Afterwords, they saw the picture more clearly.

Jesus was probably working with Joseph as a carpenter. While some people recognized Jesus as the Savior, I think most people just saw him as Joseph and Mary's son. (How many people guessed that George W could be president?)
Even when he started preaching, the people that had watched him grow up thought he was just Mary's son, nobody special. ("Familiarity breeds contempt.")

Jesus came to earth to be one of us. He was born a man and learned to be a carpenter like his father Joseph. Although Jesus has been in the Bible for 2,007 years there are many people in the world who are learning about him for the first time today. Unlike most Christians who like to stay in the company of other Christians, Jesus spent most of his time teaching pagans about God.

Growing up. Getting spots. Learning to be a carpenter. Making crosses for the Romans. Hanging out with radical dudes. Then he comes back into the bible.

Since Caesar was trying to kill Jesus, his family fled to Egypt. The Bible does mention Jesus in his other years, but not as much, since it wasn't very important.
"His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His motherdid not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."
