Okay here I am sitting at work. And I am soooo pissed off at all the hypocritical Christians that caused me to lose faith in God, Jesus, the whole thing. I will never be able to be a Christian again and that hurts because it was a part of my identity for so long.

I am sorry if I am offending anyone. This topic really does hurt me, though-more than you know.

I'm sorry. I, too, lost faith in christianity a long time ago and it was a hard time for me. But, I can offer some good news. Just because you will no longer subscribe to christianity doesn't mean that you are alone or that you are unable to be a spiritual person. Best of luck on your journey!
Peace,
Jenn

You are correct there are a bunch of hypocritical Christians in this world and yes they may do or say things that will hurt or offend. The question I have for you is have you ever been offended at work or movie or a restaurant but you probably still go to these places. Also, did God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit offend you if not don't blame them just the humans that fall short of perfection. You should try to find another church which could help to lead you back to the Father who loves you very much.

There are many churches that aren't intolerant toward those that are different, in the way Christ taught them to be. Look around for a church with a more socially liberal viewpoint, and also look into other religions as well. I used to go to a church where an openly gay man taught Sunday school and the pastor talked about how the theory of evolution wasn't in conflict with the Christian faith. Eventually you have to find what's right for you. You may be losing faith just because the church you go to has a hateful message (contrary to what Jesus preached), or you may be searching for a more tolerant religion (or lack thereof) in general. Good luck and happy trails.

This is possibly the lamest thing that I have ever heard... I know some captains of some ships that are jerks so therefore I am never going to be able to trust boats again?

You look at a fleshly man about Spiritual things and then are let down when they fail you? I doubt that you were ever a Christian in the first place. Christian = Follower of Christ. You were not following Christ you were following people.

Get your heart right with God and stop looking to man for the guidance that you should be getting from Christ. Give up on the bleeding hearts on here that were wronged by a man and then they are blaming God. If you think it is so tragic that a Christian has let you down; just wait and see what happens now that you are putting your trust in atheists. Good Luck. (Yeah, I am a Christian and I don't believe in luck)

You should never let the people of any religion shake your faith in God. The Catholic writer Andrew Greeley once commented that it was clear that the church was from God because it had survived all this time with so many a**holes running it.

I can see losing faith in a particular church, and maybe even in Christianity (though I myself believe it is the only way to salvation) but why would a person make you lose faith in God? The relationship is between you and God.

If your brother-in-law was a moron would you stop loving your sister? Or if your niece is a shank should you stop loving her father, your brother? Do you blame your parents for what your siblings do to you? Separate your feelings for believers (supposed or otherwise) and establish a relationship with God.

I understand how you feel. I was treated poorly by my "brothers and sisters in the faith". I left the church and have neglected my spiritual journey. It is a very hard thing.
But, the title "christian" isn't something that will take away the sin of an individual. We are all human, and we mess up. Christians are human just like anyone else, and since there are so many of them it seems like you are always hearing about something hypocritical that they are doing.
Even though it is hard, you have to believe that God still loves you and that he sent his Son to help show you how to live a life without hypocrisies and how to follow God's law like it was meant to be followed. You will still mess up & so will the people close to you. I hope that you can find a strength inside of you to persevere. Good luck, I'll pray for you!

What does "faith" really mean when Christians use it? It means "I would like to ignore any critical thinking and continue to believe in what makes me feel secure, even though it doesn't really make sense. I'll say the word 'faith', and then I'll be excused from having to think to hard about my beliefs or explain and hypocrisy or illogical, half baked ideas."

All that aside though, I too have left the Christian church, so I know how you feel. I don't think you can be a traditional Christian and an intellectual human being. It doesn't mean you have to abandon all sense of spirituality. Good luck to you.

No one can make you lose your faith in God except for you. The Bible says that in the last days there would be a lot of hypocrisy, so take your eyes off of people and re-focus them on God. He's the one you should praise and worship, not people. People are human, fallible, not perfect, even as the first disciples were not perfect and committed all kinds of sins, but they continued to trust in Jesus and his teachings and that's what we as believers have to do also, especially in the days we are living in, and in spite of everything, His word is still true. Keep the faith.

Don't blame God or Christ for that,if someone is using his own religion for self-glorification,spread more prejudice than he is not a true christian.Christ always teaches people how to be honest and humble so I would advice you to avoid people like them because they're not giving a good image for religion that's quite the contrary to what Chris teaches.I'm not Christian but I firmly believe in Christ and I always was taught to respect other religions. As a Bahá'í I already reconize Christ as divine being, and I also believe that everybody, specially religious should guide people to a better way and not create more disharmony and hatred, what good is that for your religion?I hope you find what's best for you.
Good luck!

Well, I've said it here before. If you look to other people to find God or Jesus you will be disappointed, maybe disillussioned. Christians are people don't expect them to be Jesus. A lot of things atheists complain about with christians are true, but christianity is not about how good christians are but about how good God is.
