i think its our ancestors who are responsible for this phenomena. I was born with a thick black hair and by the time i was 6 months old, my hair was so blonde it looked white. Then when i was 6 it was strawberry blonde and then it turned dishwater blonde or ash blonde and now its a medium brown with blonde highlights (in the summer when i'm in the sun more- i get more highlights). I'm almost half native american and who knows what the rest of my ancestors were. I know there are some Irish in the ancestor pool because of the freckles that quite a few of us have.

Hair like everything else changes. Skin pigmentation changes as well. Until you are about 8 your body does not produce any oils (that's why kids do not need deodarant). I was light brownish/blonde as a child and then my hair turned to a reddish light blondish brown. Hard to explain. I hate it so I dye it.

You don't run around in the sun for 6 hours a day like you and all of us did during summer vacation as children. Hair loses color as we age but we also get far less sunlight.

Your hair color will change many times in your life and most start out blond or black some brown.
It's normal it has to do with your family genes

well your hair turns color with your age becasue as you grow the chemical complexes in your body change, and as far as your borhter having different colored hair as you do, he may have recieved a different set of chromosomes than you did from your parents
