It says in Leviticus not to eat any animal from the ocean that doesn't have scales. I'm a Christian vegetarian and love fish, shrimp, lobster, and crab. Is it wrong to eat them?

why would it only apply to Jews?

I believe it applies to us as well and it's for health reasons. God didn't just randomly give these instructions for the sake of it. There are reasons. Read Deut 14
It lists all the clean and unclean animals.
I had read up on this stuff bc the Lord revealed it to me not too long ago. You see God made all these "unclean" animals to clean the earth. The sewage, dead animals, even dead people. I had read on a site where a doctor did a study on this and was very interesting. He backed it all up and gave percentages on how many people die from food poising bc of eating these etc...
Don't get me wrong, I like lobster & shrimp etc.. very much but since God revealed this to me, "It's my pleasure to show Him I appreciate His advice and take it to heart"
Let me say this will not cost you your salvation or anything. Do as you feel led. Ask God to confirm this to you somehow someway. Believe me He will.

P.S. I found the site where the doctor did research

Not attacking, just curious - how can you be a vegetarian and eat fish, shrimp, lobster and crab? Just because they didn't walk on land doesn't mean they aren't animals. Personally, I love all forms of seafood, so I don't blame you for loving fish, shrimp, lobster and crab, but I don't get how you can be a vegetarian (Christian or not) and decide it's "okay" to eat animals that live in the water but not "okay" to eat animals that grew up on land.

Yes!
Bible Health Laws (Are they relevant today?)
http://www.lcg.org/search/search.php?query=health+laws&%24results_per_page=10&search=1

Is shrimp, lobster, crab or pork bad to eat?

First of all they are scavengers. If you go back in the Old Testament; God distinguished what foods we should eat and which one's we shouldn't. Now if you decide too; that's your choice, but some groups don't because it's an abomination to eat anything unclean. Isn't our body the temple of God as stated in 1Cor.3:18-19? We supposed to take care of our body and be in good health (3John 1:2).

Shrimp, lobster and crab are made to eat the garbage under the sea floor; they carry diseases too. The pig is a scavenger too; it eats the slop on the earth and if you looked under a microscope of cooked ham; you will find worms in it. You really want tricinosis and diseases and things in your body?

** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:
GEN.18:7-8; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.
IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17). ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."

It was for Levites who were the tribe of priests at the time the bible was written. Priests and other spiritual leaders have generally always had more rules, restrictions, and dietary restrictions to follow than other people. Many believe these actions are what brings them closer to god. So, if you're not a Levite or you don't subscribe to those restrictions, then it's not wrong. Leviticus was written as a guide to the Priests of the Levite tribe, hence why it was named 'Leviticus' in the first place.

Don't forget pork too. That's also forbidden, but if you're a vegitarian, I guess you don't eat that anyway. Most, but not all denominations, don't acknowledge these laws because of Peter's vision in Acts chapter 10, but in my opinion, a further reading shows that this vision is symbolically talking about regarding PEOPLE, not animals, as unclean.

Some things God did for protection. I mean have you ever tried to salt and save dried crab or lobster or shrimp? Fish was done that way back then.

Ooh, where to start?

First of all, you are not a vegetarian if you eat fish or seafood.

Second, this is the part of the bible (along with animals with cloven hooves, no meat & dairy served together, etc) that the jewish faith follows.

Lastly, the bible aso says not to eat any four-legged, flying, creeping things (Leviticus 11:23) and four-legged birds (Lev 11:20). So like everything in the bible, it is up to interpretation by anyone and logically not the words of an all-powerful being.

Read it with a grain of salt (and maybe some garlic butter).

Yes, the health laws are still in effect. The reason God doesn't want you to eat any animals that are scavengers is because they help clean the earth of unhealthy stuff. If you don't follow God's health laws you may not live as healthy as you can. If you decide not to follow the health laws it is not a sin that will keep you out of heaven it is just a sin that might harm your health.

Of course you can. That is the difference in the OT and the NT. Leviticus is in the OT. In the NT, Jesus stated that it's what comes out of a man's mouth(harsh words) that causes damage, not what goes into it (food).

People say that it only applies to Jews because the Jews don't believe in the NT, which is when the law changes. Before the NT(Jesus), yes that law applied. All the God worshipping/religious people back then were Jews.
