If everyone is invited, one "blanket" invitation is all that's necessary, but be sure to state that the party is for everyone. If only certain individuals are invited, then you have to issue separate ones. Separate invitations are best sent to the home address of each invitee, rather than distributed in person at the office. It's better logistics, however, to invite the entire group, rather than a select few. Discrimination is a nasty word these days.

Issuing one invitation to the "office" would imply that you put them in a different class than your real friends. If that's the case, it's perfectly all right, but it's not polite to let them know it. You should restrict your guestlist to people you actually like enough to send invitations to. (And if the "discrimination" alluded to above is likely to cause a problem, it would be better not to socialize with coworkers at all.)

Depending of the type of party.
Also, if you wish to exclude the office jerk - personal invites would be best.

I'm retired 12 years now. ??? I'm sure things change.
If your going to get naked like hot tubbing, individual verbal messages
If it is just a BBQ and you can handle the entire staff go for it
remember RSVP,,, to get the right amount of food.
