CLEARLY that is NOT understood and TOO MANY dimwits buy a dog registered with another registry and THEN find out it is crap!!!!!!! They have all heard of the AKC...........so why do they STILL buy a dog registered with another registry???? It is a FREAKING mystery to me.
Of course these are the SAME people that would see a doctor that got a degree from Cracker Jack University. You see them all the time on TV. Had a "doctor" preform a penile enhancement in an ALLEY....didn't think there was anything wrong with that.....til it turned black and FELL OFF!!! Guess we cannot expect them to be any smarter with the family dog.

You're funny.
I made a call to AKC several years ago to report a breeder stupidly thinking that they'd give a damn about the poor quality animals they were breeding and selling for a high dollar amount.
I was informed that AKC is fully aware that there are too many breeders selling inbred pups as well as pups from dogs who have genetic defects that they are all too well aware of.They also are aware that these pups are being sold for big money by supposedly reputable breeders who've been in buisness for years.
Now while AKC does not condone the practice they will do absolutely NOTHING to stop it.If 2 dogs of the same breed are AKC registered then the pups can be registered. So saying that dogs that are not AKC registered are not real dogs or are crap is a big crock of sh*t!AKC will register anything regardless as long as mom and pop dog are registered.
Define mutt and mongrel please.AKC has now accepted a x between a mastiff and a rottweiller as a breed.Does that not fall into the mutt category?
AKC,CKC,UKC,etc-it does'nt matter>It's all a big scam to get our money.
I have 2 shepherds -both AKC-so what. Why do I need to pay someone who won't stand up for mine or my dogs rights just so everyone will know where my dog is?I know where they both are and that's all that counts to me.There is no prestige in owning a registered dog over an un registered one.
the only difference is in showing them and that's all a scam too as I know several people who have taken others dogs to show along with theirs who they knew could never win. They switched papers so they showed someone else's dog under their dogs names and won big money.Unfortuneately they are greedy as since they now have a dog with a fake title they're breeding dogs with genetic defects that they know full well will produce poor quality, unhealthy pups but they don't care! And neither does AKC nor does Eukanuba. The prize money's been paid the titles been given and they don't care that the wrong dog was given the credit.
My boys look just as good as if not better than alot I've seen in a show ring altho right now they both need a bath. They've never seen a training class but they could hold their own with others who have.I have no doubt. But what's the point with all the back-stabbing and flat out cheating going on.
I have real dogs. They don't need titles and ribbons as no one could be more proud of them than I am.And no one could love them more than me.

yes, the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club are the two most legitimate registries in north america.
however, don't dismiss the UKC so quickly. many rare breeds can not be registered with the AKC but they are recognized by the UKC. the breeders use the UKC so they can show their dogs until the breed achieves AKC recognition. i would be wary of any "popular" breeds that are registered with the UKC but not with the AKC, they have no excuse.
the individual breed clubs of un-recognized breeds are also usually reputable. i'm not talking about the "malti-poo club of america" or fake breeds like that, but rare breeds such as the Leonberger Club of America or the Coton du Tulear Club of America.
APRI has to be one of the worst. if your dog has that registry i guarantee you it is from a puppy mill.

AKC registered doesn't mean squat.
Tonya sunbom sold AKC registered crap even though her licensing was revoked. Just because it is AKC registered does not mean it was a reputable breeder or quality stock.

She stole dogs never had any papers for them bred them and registered and sold the pups.

Actually, Don't buy from a breeder at all and rescue. BREEDERS=MURDER
How many puppies and dogs die at a shelter because some moron decided to that their dog was a paycheck and not their companion? Too many.
