Jess had to go work the overnight shift at the utility company. He would've finished the job, but he had an allergy attack and there was also an "Everybody Loves Raymond" marathon on TV.

ADDENDUM: Oh...you meant JESUS, not my roommate, Jess!

Same answer.

His job was finished on the cross, He even said so. His second coming is to take those that have died and those of us who are alive back with Him. This will ultimately culminate in the last war that this world will ever see (Armageddon) and will feature the kings of the north, east and south (notice WEST not included). Following this mighty battle, there will be 1,000 years (yes it will be GRAND - sorry couldn't resist the pun) of peace on this earth and EVERYONE will own Jesus as saviour and L-RD (master). Subsequent to this, according to scripture, Satan will be let loose for a short time, but ultimately He will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. All of this has been prophesied in the scriptures, and just as His first coming was prophesied and fulfilled so too will His second. There are various versions of what I've listed above with regard to timing, however this world will all end and their will be a Great White Throne Judgment and a new heave and new earth in eternity future. That, in a nutshell is the long and short of it.

Jesus came originally to take our sins to the cross and descend into hell for 3 days. He also taught us what we should be doing. While He was in hell He dropped the sins of the world and fought Satan and his minions to get out. He then came back to His disciples to prove He was still alive and was going to the Father to sit in the seat of judgment. Jesus gave us a second chance to accept Him before He comes back to save His people and those left will face the most catastrophic period of the world. Many will be killed and many will convert to Christianity. Jesus will then come back and throw the beast, Antichrist and his master Satan into the depths of the abyss chained and powerful-less while the earth will go through a rebirth and a 1000 year reign of happiness. Jesus will then judge every person that ever lived and present glory to his loyal followers. Jesus will come back but bottom line, He wanted to give humans a chance to digest His words, take away their sins, and let them continue to keep their free choice!

Jess....I mean Jesus, did finish the job the first time.
He came to die on the cross for YOU and did.
Did you get that? for YOU!

His second coming will be to save the earth from total destruction by mankind and to defeat, once and for all time, Satan and his minions.
either you are for God or you are against Him.....where do you choose to stand?
there is NO middle ground and there will be NO spectators at that final battle.
I wish you will stand next to me.....on God's side.

Jesus completed the work of redeeming man.
But He is also a gnetleman, never forcing Himself upon anyone, and never taking back His gift of free will.

His Second Coming is in part a final rescue before mankind destroys the Earth.
And His Second Coming is in fulfillment of the scriptures.
