My cat that I have had for 2 years now is suddenly attacking everyone that comes in the door - even if it's someone they know from previous situations. I love my cat to death but its starting to hiss at me when I go into the same room she's in. She used to sleep down by my feet on the bed and now she hides everywhere. Yesterday my parents brought over there puppy and my cat jumped at it and got it by the neck and we ended up bringing the puppy to the vets and he's ok. But none of my friends and family come to visit me anymore because of my cat. And I don't wanna get rid of her but I can't think of any other alternative. help!

Thanks everyone, I called the vet and they made an appointment for friday. They want to take a urin sample and fecies sample. I'm kinda worried for her because it seems she has rapidly losing weight and she constintly licking her butt. She likes to be under stuff, where before she prefered to be high up. I will get back to everyone as soon as I find out what the problem is!! thanks sooo much!!!

Did something happen to trigger this behaviour? Was she frightened by someone or something?
Is it possible she is in heat? That can cause major attitude changes.
Could she have a health problem that is causing her pain or stress?
Try to pinpoint the cause - your vet will definitely help with this. In the meantime, be sweet to her, and leave her be if she wants to be sulky, and pet her a lot if she comes to you for love.

I'm only 19, so I'm no veterinarian, but I have worked in a veterinarian's office for five years. I've seen many cases like this come through the office, and it could be possible that your cat is in pain. Cats become very uncomfortable and irritable and aggressive when they have bladder infections. When I read your question, that was the first thing that came to mind. But, with bladder infections, you would also look for constant urination. But, I would take the cat to the vet. It could be ill in some other way because of the aggression. Animals try to hide their illness and pain, it's a natural thing for them to do.

did something recently change? my experience with cats is that they react to any change...in food, litter box location, etc. figure out whats different around your house. did a child move away to college and clean out his room? if so, find a blanket or something with the scent. that may help the cat adjust. if nothing is out of the ordinary, maybe take the cat to your vet. there could be something going on inside that sweet little head.
as far as the puppy goes, i hope he's ok. i know my female cat is very territorial when it comes to outside animals. do your best to keep space between them and show an equal amount of love. Good Luck!

Well, I got a dog from the pound once and it growled at me at it was threatening so I brought it back and lost my $117, but I don't want to feel threatened in my own house so I recommend you either take it to the kitty pound or take it to the vet and see what else can be done. If it just started doing this, something had to have happened to make it go crazy, so maybe you want to find out what went wrong and fix it.

When friends come over, keep the cat in a different room with a litter box, food, and water. This sudden behavior has most likely come from not being taught cat manners from another cat, so your cat does not really know how to behave.

Have the vet check it out to make sure it's not sick or in pain.
If the cat is not already fixed have it fixed that should help.
If it's an inside cat have it declawed in the front this should reduce it's damage potential.
If all else fails it is probably posessed either call an exorcist or kick it's nasty butt out.

Seems like a trip to the vet is in order for your kitty. Perhaps she is in pain or feeling ill. Call your vet and see if you can get a sedative to put in her food, so the trip to the vet won't be so traumatic for the two of you.

You need to get a pet carrier like for traveling, when you have people come over put the cat in it with food, water and a cat toy. Maby you need to spend more time with your cat.
Or you could just give it a whole butt load of cat nip and maby it will chill out. Maby it is hurt or somthing take it to the vet!!

You should go to the vet, maybe the cat has a mental problem, but almost anything can be fixed.

my cat had the same problem but I found out it was because theyr was a splinter in his paw. so mabey someting has caused her pain lately.
or maybe its because she has been chased by a dog, fell into water- it just had a bit of a fright is all.
- thats the sitch- try to leave her alone-or just see the vet soon.
-good luck!
