well, i do know this for sure:
if you are a singer, NEVER drink milk or eat a lot of dairy on the day of a performance, it coats your throat and makes it difficult to sing. so maybe it would make it feel a bit better, but it wouldnt help the healing process at all. drinks with vitamins are better. actually, taking one ibuprofin every 6 hours for a while helps it. my voice teacher told me to do that once when i was sick and nearing a performance. eating vitamin C throat drops is good as well.

Milk helps anything through my eyes...then again, I'm like, obsessed with MIIIILK! If you ARE going to drink milk, make sure it's warm. Burning or freezing your throat won't feel good. Besides, if you lost your voice from yelling, and you weren't sick before or have no other symptoms, it's totaly natural! ^_^ It should go away in a couple days. Pep rallies at my school do that to a lot of people... Also! If you have like a soar throat, then orange juice will be perfect. It feels good as new for a few minutes, then goes back to feeling soar. I guess orange juice is a temporary pain reliever?

Yup but not just milk. My grandma used to warm our milk and mix a little bit of turmeric powder in it. It worked like magic. We'd wake up next day and our throats were back to normal. It tasted good too... I still drink it whenever I get a cold or I have throat problems

It might be soothing. It is also acidic just in case the advice to try acidic stuff like lemons is true.

I've seen someone use fruit pectin during a speech when he was going raspy. His voice would improve for 15 or 20 minutes and then he'd drink/swallow more fruit pectin. (Mixed with a little water)

No but it might make it feel better, because of the cold and the coating properties. But it is not a healer with time and rest your voice will come back and your mate will have a restful time also.

Milk is the best thing for a sore throat because it coats the entire throat

No. Milk promotes phlegm build up. Try honey and fresh squeezed lemon juice in a half cup of hot water, spike it with a jigger of brandy.

i've never heard that milk was good for a sore throat. that acctually sounds kind of gross. i would suggest hot tea with honey and lemon. it really does make your throat feel better and it warms it up. good luck and i hope you feel better.

I have never heard of that but try it and see! If you have fever DO NOT drink milk. it will sour in your stomach and make you vomit!
