I wanted to name my baby daughter somehow honoring both my grandmother, by combining both of their names in to one. My grandmothers names are Evelyn and Cora, so I though I could make the name Corrynne and it would resemble both. Another idea would be honoring my two long-time best friends, Lisa and Kelly and naming her Lilly as a combo.
Is that really lame, or is it the thought behind it that counts?

It's not lame at all. I'm named after my two grandmothers and I've always been proud of that. I never knew my paternal grandmother (died before I was born) and my maternal grandmother passed away when I was a child. Being their namesake has always allowed me to still feel close to them. Combining their names is nice but it would be more of a tribute (and some day mean more to your daughter) to have both grandmother's names as a second and third name. Example: Jessica Evelyn Cora Smith. Lilly is a pretty name but being named after her grandmothers will likely mean more to your daughter than being named after your friends.

The name Lilly is very pretty, original.
To make a homage for grandmothers and friends also is a great idea!

It forgives the errors of English, but I say protugues and am making translation in English by means of sites…

I don't think it's lame at all. It's very sweet but which one are you going to go for? Lilly Corrynne sounds very pretty if you want to go with the middle name. You go ahead and name your baby whatever you would like!! Good luck.

Well, it is no lame for me. I was named after my two grandmothers.

Both names are pretty. I like Corynne more than Lilly, but both are lovely.

With some of t he names out there, no, that's not lame. Go with Corrynne, it's more original and she will know when she is being called in school by her teachers.

I think both of those ideas are really unique and cute, and both work really well. If you wanted to do both, Lilly Corrynne sounds adorable...

I don't think either one is lame.

BUT what if you get in a really huge fight and break up with one of your friends, what would you do about the baby's name then? So I would stick with family names.

I think it is a great idea. Your daughter will enjoy hearing the story of how she got her name when she gets older.

Both are nice names. Honouring someone you love is a nice idea, but don't feel obligated to do so.
