He needs to work because I can't right now but I want him to be able to spend time with the baby and with me alone without baby.

I've never bothered with schedules-babies sleep, eat, and poo when they need to. Eventually the baby will have his/her own schedule and you can take your cues off that.

The best schedule I know is from a book called "On becoming Babywise." 7-6 seems like a pretty normal schedule, so I don't think you need to change anything.
Basically, you wake up the baby in the morning and depending on how old he/she is you just follow a very regular/predictable schedule. The main thing is, you keep the baby awake after the feeding for a certain amount of time, then let him/her take a nap.
If you let the baby fall asleep while feeding, you won't be able to maintain a schedule.
Good Luck

you have to work at a schedule but if you put him or her asleep at 8-8:30 then you still have down time with your partner and your partner still has time to spend with the baby..I would have dinner ready before your partner gets home it gets a little eiser that way..You will do fine and instincts will come into effect...

my mohawk boyfriend's grandmother says
have his head face east,in his crib, turn counter clockwise 3 times, so he ends up with his head back at the east. you can do this all at once, just pick him up, rotate him, set him down.
i know it sounds weird, but she swears it works, and it is worth a try..
good luck
