Because that is the area on the retina where the optic cord is that takes the information to the brain. The eye is better than any artificial camera an absolute masterpiece. Great thing God made it so you do not see a black spot in your vision it is unnoticeable.

Octopuses don't have blind spots and yet a well developed eye. Humans, like most mammals, have blind spots. It's either human's common ancestor's flaws or god ran out of clay at the very last minute of the sixth day. Ah yes, lets blame human's freewill, the favorite scapegoat.

Dude, I'm on your side, but the only blind spot I'm aware of is related to the optic nerve terminating at that point. I don't see this question as being definitive support of anything.

THe "blind spot" is actually the end of the optic nerve.
Now, who said anything about god or intelligent design. It's called evolution.

God created us with limits. We dont have wings, we can never reach that one spot on our back that itches the most. I believe He gave us such limits so that we can learn and teach and help eachother.

God did't create our eyes this way... some people are just born with certain abnormalities either big or small and in this case... our blind spots just 'grown on us' it has nothing to do with God. come on.... give me something better than this

I'm pretty sure it wasen't an intelligent design to have a blind spot, sounds like a flaw to me buddy.
