If someone betrayed you once, do you think they could change and could you give a second chance? Or does the "leopard doesn't change its spots" true here?

It really depends on the person & the situation. As the saying
goes "fool me once, shame on you......fool me twice, shame on me". Basically, if you choose to give this person a second chance then IF they repeat this offense it is on you and you must learn from it and NOT give them a third chance.

Good luck

I think that it totally depends upon the situation (how they betrayed you) I believe in giving people second chances because noone is perfect and we all mess up sometimes. Really it depends on how you were betrayed. I would have to say that trust is something to be earned and once that trust is broken it can be repaired if the person who broke the trust is truely sorry for the betrayal. I think when you give someone a second chance for a long time you might be fearful that they are going to betray you again but sometimes the person is so truely sorry that your relationship with them becomes even better after the betrayal. It is almost like they realize what they did hurt you so badly and they want to make it up to you. Don't be afraid to give a second chance but also don't be stupid by forgetting the betrayal. Just try and move forward from it.

Well i do not know how this particular person betrayed you. However, I personally always give second chances to people. People can change. Although, often t is few and far between. What i do is let them in my life in a small way. I do not allow them to have a chance of letting me down at first and as time goes on i regain trust in them. Inversely, you can not let your self get walked on. If they really let you down again they probably do not deserve you in there life.

You will never know the answer to it unless you give them a second chance..

I mean..you know that they've betrayed you right..im sure they apologize and say they wont do it again...so when you give them the 2nd chance..you're already aware of what they've done (it wont hurt you as much)....so if they do it again...just get out..its not worth it..its been done twice and you'll know your answer...whether the spots change or not in your situation.

Depends on their age.

A young person would probably have learned something from his/her mistake.

Twenty-five or older is repeating a pattern and may not care what his/her behavior did to anyone else...somewhat of a conman.

If you decide to give him/her a second chance, make sure they realize you're operating on a "zero tolerance" basis from this day on.

I think with some people you can. It depends on what they did and if they are truly sorry for their actions. Everytime I've given second chances, I've gotten burned, but that doesn't mean something good can't come out of it.

I beleive it is possible through hard work and professional counselling.

The counselling is two-fold, it helps the injured person learn to trust again but it also exposes if the offender is truly committed to the change.

If they say, oh honey we don't need counselling to get through this - RUN. Anyone who is sincere about making amends will do whatever it takes to do so, including getting professional assistance.

Depends on what it is, I will give a second chance, but never a 3rd or 4th.

Depends on how high up the betrayal scale they went. In most cases though you should give them a second shot just in-case you were mistaken.
