Depends on what you constitute as effective. A father is someone who donates sperm. A dad is someone who helps care and groom a child into what they will be as an adult. An effective Dad would be one that instills positve self-esteem in the child, creating a trusting, loving relationship between the two. I don't think the things can just be listed out, but if one really wanted to become an effective father perhaps they could look into some parenting or child development classes.

A father is someone who is willing to take the time to spend with a child. Someone who nurtures, teaches, cares for, supports and is willing to be a friend but always a parent first.

Being a parent is all of this and more... Money and materialistic items does not make a parent... being a surrogate or sperm donor does not make you a parent.... its takes a lot of time, love and patience.

My ex claims to be a father to two beautiful girls. One is 13 and before we were together the last time he saw her she was 1 1/2... when we saw here she was already 9 - that lasted about 3 months - we split up when our daughter was 5 months old.... and other than an occasional visit (once every 3-6 months) and photo albums my daughter does not really know him. No phone calls, he misses birthdays and Christmas a so forth... that is not a father. Its only good for him when it suits him... not when she needs him. If it disrupts his schedule he just forgets about both of them until he wants to show them off for whatever reason.

Being a parent is soooo much more - mother or father -

Well it is all about the attention and encouragement that you provide. There needs to be a balance, to where you dont baby them so they can face the world individually, but also confidence comes from encouragement and attention at an early age. You should also be physically affectionate with your children like hugging them so they dont become shy. The role as a father is often disturbed by pre-occupations such as work and other things going on in there life. But that is all a mistake, your kids should be what is your top priority. If so you will like the results

Being present. Being a father is more than just supplying sperm. You have to present within the life of your child(ren). Find out what is important to your child and make that important to you. Be honest & open with your child. They will repect you more and in turn will be honest with you. Also when you welcome honesty from your child you have to be ready for it. Some times they can be a little 2 honest. There are somethings as parents that we don't want to know that our children know or experiencing, but we still have to be there to offer advice, guidence, and support. I an in saying that you should be buddy buddy with your children, but build a relationship with as a parent, friend, infulencer, and informer.

Depends. For some it can just be the financial support. But most generally an effective father is someone who will love you and support you unconditionally.

its so strange to say that... but so many children in ma country hate thier father.... why!! i have no idea... but since i have friends in here... i can tell that one of the main idea or principle... that father have here is to scream to their children... so that they become afraid of them.... so obay them... and ofcourse children listen to their mother way more than they listen to the father... that the way i see it happens here... so ma point is.... you have to understand the way yr child is... talk to her/him.... make her/ him yr friend with limits... i really think its not hard thing to b a parent as long as you take things wisly..
goodluck
